In 2019, online survey questionnaires asked questions about South African taxation and business. Ninety-one respondents shared their experiences and opinions. This information was analysed and stratified. The arising chief issues from the data was government corruption and high taxes. These were suggested to be dealt with by legal action and reduction of government size and taxes. Confidence was expressed in the South African government that it possesses the will to achieve this, but if it does not, it would likely face escalating tax revolts of one or more type.
